Morris Achieves 13.3% Growth in H1 2026 Stationery Business, Expanding Product Lines and Distribution Channels
2026-08-12

Morris, a leading stationery company, announced that its stationery business grew by 13.3% year-on-year in the first half of 2026. The company attributes the increase in sales to product development focused on addressing everyday user inconveniences, the automation of key component assembly, and the expansion of its distribution channels.

The Korean stationery market continues to evolve amid a declining school-age population, digital transformation, weakened consumer sentiment, and growing competition from low-cost imported products. As consumer needs become increasingly segmented across areas such as education, office work, hobbies, and creative activities, the ability to differentiate products through functionality and user experience has become increasingly important.

Morris has long taken everyday inconveniences encountered during the use of stationery products as a starting point for product development. One of its flagship products, Morris JUST CLICK, was developed to address the inconvenience of repeatedly opening and closing marker caps, as well as ink drying caused by lost caps.

JUST CLICK is a click-type marker series designed to prevent the nib from drying out without the need for a cap. Morris has developed its own patented airtight sealing system, which is applied across a range of products including highlighters, permanent markers, board markers, and other writing instruments. The company explains that it has continuously refined the sealing performance and writing experience according to the characteristics of each ink formulation and nib structure.

The mechanism used in the system is a key component that requires a precise structure and sophisticated assembly process. To ensure consistent product quality, Morris developed its own automated assembly equipment, improving production consistency and efficiency while establishing a stronger foundation for responding to demand in both domestic and international markets.

Morris is also expanding the range of applications for its products. Beyond products for educational and office use, the company has introduced functional markers designed for a variety of surfaces, including fabric, acrylic, ceramics, metal, and glass, broadening the ways in which consumers can use stationery products in their daily lives.

Although stationery may appear to be a relatively simple product category, small details—such as how a cap is opened and closed, how a product is stored, or how it feels when writing—can significantly affect the user experience through repeated use. Morris continues to pursue a strategy of expanding its product portfolio by connecting these everyday inconveniences with product planning and technological development.

A company representative stated, “The stationery industry is a highly competitive market with numerous products and brands, but there is still room for improvement in the small inconveniences consumers experience in their daily lives. We will continue to develop products that offer new user experiences, strengthen our manufacturing capabilities, and expand our distribution channels both domestically and internationally.”
